Ameesha Patel's parents are Amit and Asha Patel. Her brother, Ashmit, is also a Bollywood actor. She did her schooling from Cathedral and John Connon High School in Mumbai. She graduated from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.In 2000, she made her debut in the film Kaho Na Pyar Hai. The film was a runaway hit. She had signed Gadar Ek Prem Katha first but Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai released before that. The actress was a part of the smash hit film Bhool Bhulaiya (2007).
