Anandi, the protagonist of the show Balika Vadhu is a little girl who is devoid of a joyful childhood as she gets married in a tender age and is bound by her in-laws' strict customs. As a child the character is chirpy but as she grow older she goes through a painful relationship with her husband, completes her education, becomes a teacher, is elected as a sarpanch of the village.
