Augustus Jackson was the head chef in the White House from roughly 1820-30,[citation needed]. During this time he developed several new flavors of ice cream, around the year 1832.[citation needed] Later he resigned, returning to Philadelphia to improve ice cream and his new flavors, becoming very well-known for his famous ice cream.
