Daily Excelsior is an English newspaper published from Jammu city, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. It has been published since January 1, 1965 and claims to be the most widely circulated English daily newspaper in the state. It has a daily circulation of 190,000 according to its website. Its current Editor-in-Chief is S.D. Rohmetra. On May 11, 2008 one of its journalists Ashok Sodhi was killed while photographing an armed confrontation between militant and security forces in the Samba District of Indian-controlled Kashmir. He’d moved closer to capture better coverage of the confrontation when a stray bullet hit him.
