Gucci entered the timepiece trade, in November 1997, when the Gucci Group NV acquired the Severin Montres Group. Severin Montres, one of the world's largest watch manufacturers and a Gucci licensee for 23 years, already had extensive distribution in North America, Hong Kong, the UK and Germany. Primarily a designer, Gucci watch designs are varied and imaginative.
