Mohammad Hamid Ansari is the 13th and current Vice President of India. He also serves as the President of the Indian Institute of Public Administration and as the Chancellor of Punjab University, Chandigarh. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India on April 1, 1937. Ansari has previously been an Ambassador and has served as Vice-Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University from 2000 to 2002. Later, he was Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities from 2006 to 2007. He was elected as Vice President of India on August 10, 2007. On August 7, 2012, he was re-elected as Vice president of India.
