Kajol was born on August 5, 1974. She is the daughter of Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee and the niece of famous actress Nutan.
Bollywood actress Tanisha Mukherjee is her sister and Rani Mukherjee is her cousin.
Kajol made her debut in Bollywood with 'Bekhudi' that flopped at the box office. Later, she was noticed in 'Baazigar' opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
She has also played the negative role of a psychopath killer in Rajiv Rai's 'Gupt'

She married actor Ajay Devgn on February 24, 1999 in a traditional Maharashtrian style ceremony at the Devgn house.
She gave birth to baby girl Nysa on April 20, 2003. The Devgns were also blessed with a baby boy named Yug in 2010.
Her role as the tomboy-natured Anjali in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' fetched her the Filmfare award for best actress in 1998. Her blunt hair bob was a fashion statement that many followed.
In 2001, Kajol suffered a miscarriage. She then temporarily retired from Bollywood
She made a hit comeback with 'Fanaa' opposite Aamir Khan. She won a Best actress Filmfare award for her portrayal of a blind girl in the movie.
Kajol is also a recipient of Padma Shri award for her contribution to Indian Cinema.
Kajol considers Karan Johar as one of her best friends.
