At the age of 27, he began his venture when satellite broadcasting started buzzing in the early 1990s. His father was late leader Murasoli Maran while his brother was India`s ex-Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran. Sun TV was listed on the bourses on April 24, 2006. One of the few representatives at a roundtable visiting U.S. President Bill Clinton. He made his entry in the prestigious Forbes list of billionaires in 2007.
