About Karan Johar

Karan Johar is the son of well-known producer the late Yash Johar. A director, producer, writer, TV celebrity, and even costume designer, Johar attended the Greenlawns High school and later HR College in Mumbai.   His production company is Dharma Productions which was set up by his father.Influenced by commercial Bollywood cinema as a child, Karan made his entry into the film industry as an actor. He played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s best friend in the 1995 blockbuster 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'. He was also the assistant director for the film and helped Aditya Chopra in writing the screenplay. SRK’s costumes in the film were handled by Karan Johar.   He made his directorial debut with 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in the year 1998 starring Shah Rukh, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan.
