Markandey Katju is a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court of India.He was born in Allahabad on 20-9-1946. His grandfather Kailash Nath Katju, was well known in the fields of law and politics. Katju was appointed as a judge of the Allahabad High Court in 1991, as its Acting Chief Justice in August 2004, as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court in November 2004, and as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court in October 2005. He was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India in April 2006. Justice Katju痴 background is noteworthy because of his record of academic excellence and his family痴 achievements in the field of Law. He was a brilliant scholar and topped the merit list of the Allahabad Universitys LLB examination of 1968.
