About Nandan Nilekani

Nandan Nilekani was born in Sirsi, a small town in Karnataka; Nilekani completed his studies from Bishop Cotton Boys School, Bangalore, and then moved on to the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in the year 1973. Nilekani joined Patni Computer Systems in the year 1978 where he met N. R. Narayana Murthy.   After working for three years in Patni Computers he along with six other enthusiasts, led by Murthy, formed their own company, InfoSys which was later renamed as Infosys. Nilekani took over from Murthy as the Chief Executive Officer of Infosys in March 2002. Nilekani served as CEO and MD of the company for 5 years. His successor was his colleague Kris Gopalakrishnan.
