Life has come a full circle for lyricist Kausar Munir, who wrote Saiyaara based on the actor's public persona.
Belonging to a pre-dominantly male bastion, lyricist Kausar Munir has become almost a household name with her tracks like Mashallah and Saiyaara from Salman Khan’s latest release. Bandra-based Kausar says that incidentally she had actually punned on Sallu’s popular image for the track Saiyaara, but instead of getting miffed, the actor actually praised her for the lyrics of both the songs.
Interestingly, the term Saiyaara means lonely planet and Kausar felt it was apt description for the actor who has been publicly single for long now. Besides, the film’s script demanded a song that explained the contrasting background of the two leading characters in it.
On being asked how she came up with the word Saiyaara, the lyricist humbly informs that the term already existed and all she had to do was work on the film’s imagery. “I clubbed the words saiya and yaara which means lover and friend and created Saiyaara. But this word already exists in Arabic to describe a planet,” says the person who also coined the film title Ishaqzaade.
Kausar admits she is a huge Salman fan too. She states, “I’m his greatest fan ever. I fell in love with him at the age of 13 and used to have more than 500 of his photographs pasted on my wall! And now, my life has completed a full circle with me writing songs for him and he hugging me and complimenting ‘superb’ on my work.”
