Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle's eldest daughter Varsha Bhosle committed suicide by shooting herself on Monday. Varsha, who was 55 years of age, was found dead at her Peddar road apartment in Mumbai.
According to reports, Asha Bhosle is currently in Singapore to attend MIFTA awards (Marathi Culture awards). Varsha Bhosle was a singer and a journalist. She has as written for publications like Sunday Observer, The Times of India and Rediff. Initial reports say that Varsha had a history of depression.
In the past, Varsha tried committing suicide by consuming sleeping pills, just a day after her mother celebrated her 75th birthday. Even as the police brushed it aside as a 'drug overdose,' one can't help wonder if Varsha too was suffering from depression, post her divorce.
