Police say Bhojpuri actress Ruby Singh committed suicide by hanging herself in her home after failing to make it in Bollywood

Bollywood might be glamorous with its big lights and bigger dreams, but the problem with dreams is that they always come with rude awakenings.

Yesterday, a 25-year-old Bhojpuri actress, failing to deal with the disappointment of failing to establish herself in the world of arc lights, committed suicide by hanging herself at her apartment.

According to the Goregaon police, Ruby Singh, who had acted in 30 Bhojpuri movies, was found hanging from the ceiling of her fifth floor flat in a building located at Ram Mandir Road at Goregaon (West). The cops say she took the drastic turn over her failure of making it big in Bollywood.

The incident took place between 11 am and 3.30 pm yesterday, when her distant relative Rohit Kamleshwar found her lifeless body. Officers said that Singh had called Kamleshwar at 10 am but he hadn't answered his phone then. When he tried her number later, it was switched off.

"At 3.30 pm, when Kamleshwar went to Singh's home to check on her, he found her body hanging from the ceiling fan," said Arun Jadhav, senior inspector from Goregaon police station adding that they found a suicide note next to her body saying, 'I blame nobody for the step I'm taking'."

Singh's body has been sent for a post-mortem to Cooper Hospital. Jadhav further added that Singh's parents who reside in Patna have been informed and are on their way to the city to claim the body.

However, cops said that this is not the first time that Singh had attempted to take her life. Kamleshwar told cops that he was worried about Singh as the previous day when she had called him, she was upset and when he met her she had consumed five-six sleeping pills.

But at that moment, he was able to help her and even told her mother about the incident. Kamleshwar further elaborated that Singh had a history of trying to end her life, as even a year-and-a half ago, when Singh had gone to Patna, she had attempted to commit suicide by consuming sleeping pills.

"Prima facie it appears that Singh was suffering from depression because she was not getting work. However, when she attempted to commit suicide in Patna, she was doing five Bhojpuri films," said Jadhav.

The police also suspect that there might have been some problems in her personal life owing to which she was depressed.

"We are waiting for Singh's parents to come to the city and will record their statements. We will also speak to the producers and directors whom she was working with and record their statements too," said Jadhav.
