The DMK, a key constituent of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the centre, has called a meeting of its executive committee here Oct 1.
In a statement issued here Wednesday, DMK's general secretary K. Anbazhagan said an emergency meeting of the party's executive committee has been called Oct 1 at 10 a.m. at the party headquarters. The meeting will be chaired by DMK president M. Karunanidhi.
While the statement is silent on the meeting agenda, the executive committee may deliberate whether the party should accept additional ministerial berths at the centre if offered to the party.
Recently, Karunanidhi said the decisions on accepting ministerial berths will be taken by the party's executive committee or by the general council.
