Former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, who is wanted by police in connection with the suicide of former flight attendant Geetika Sharma and has been missing, is likely to move the Delhi High Court Monday to seek anticipatory bail, a close associate said.
On Thursday, Kanda's anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by a sessions court that said allegations against him were grave and serious in nature and that his application was without merit.
A close aide said Kanda would file an anticipatory bail application Monday in Delhi High Court.
Kanda, who owned the now-defunct MDLR Airlines where Geetika was employed earlier, faces charges of criminal intimidation.
The former Haryana minister's employee Aruna Chaddha, who was arrested Wednesday, was sent to police custody till Aug 11 by another Delhi court.
Geetika, who committed suicide at her Delhi home Aug 5, left behind a note blaming Kanda and Chaddha for her extreme step, police said.
After Kanda's airline ceased to function in 2009, Geetika was given a job in another company owned by him. She later quit the job, police said.
Kanda, who began his career as a chappal seller and later became a multi-millionaire property dealer, floated MDLR Airline in 2007. He was elected as an Independent legislator from Sirsa constituency in the October 2009 assembly polls in Haryana and joined the Congress-led government headed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
He was made minister of state for home by Hooda despite having been named in police cases earlier.
