A bomb was recovered from the body of security personnel who was brought in for post mortem at a Ranchi hospital after a Naxal attack. The Naxals booby-trapped the bodies with explosives which exploded subsequently causing the high casualty figure in the attack on Monday, killing 10 CRPF personnel and three civilians.

The bomb disposal squad was called in after the doctors sensed there was a bomb inside and refused to conduct the post mortem.

Ten security personnel were killed in an encounter with Naxals at Latehar. The CRPF's 134 and 112 battalions and Jharkhand Jaguar personnel were engaged in the anti-Naxal operations when the encounter took place near Katila locality of Amuatikar village of the district.

The rebels planted explosives underneath the bodies, which exploded when other personnel went to remove them, Director General of Police GS Rath told PTI.

Ranchi SP Saket Kumar Singh said, "Stitches were located on the body, so the post-mortem was put on hold. An X-ray showed a bomb inside the body. The bomb disposal squad was trying to diffuse the bomb."
