Fiza Mohammad, the estranged second wife of ex Haryana Deputy CM Chander Mohan, and Geetika Sharma, an ex-airhostess, are among the ever growing list of women who were wronged by men in power. These successful and independent women were forced to take the drastic step of committing suicide due to the mental and physical abuse they had to endure. We take a look at women who have been driven over the wall by powerful men. 

Anuradha Bali alias Fiza Mohammad- Fiza was the estranged second wife of ex Haryana Deputy CM Chander Mohan and the former Assistant Advocate General of Haryana, who was found dead at her Chandigarh residence. The reason behind her extreme step is still unknown as investigations are on in this high profile case. Fiza, who was earlier known as Anuradha Bali, converted to Islam to marry Mohan as he was already married with two kids. The controversial former advocate general had earlier attempted suicide in March 2009. Moreover, when the relations soured between Fiza and Mohan, she joined politics by launching a political outfit and also ventured into TV by doing reality shows.  

Ruchika Girhotra- Ruchika Girhotra, who was an upcoming tennis player, was molested by the-then Inspector General of Police SPS Rathore in 1990 at the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association, where Girhotra had enrolled as a trainee. The 14-year-old girl went into major depression following the molestation and committed suicide in December of 1993, three years after she and her family were mentally and physically tortured.  On December 22, 2009, after 19 years, 40 adjournments, and more than 400 hearings, the court finally pronounced Rathore guilty of molestation and sentenced him to six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000.  

Natasha Singh- A former model-turned-photographer, Singh was married to Jagat Singh, the son of senior Congress leader Natwar Singh and was embroiled in a bitter battle with her estranged husband over the custody of their sons - Hanut and Himmat. In 2002, the bubbly socialite allegedly jumped off a hotel room in New Delhi due to a nine-year turbulent marriage to the All India Youth Congress general-secretary Jagan. The Delhi police had initially ruled her death as murder but later closed the case as a suicide.  

Nadia Torrado- A close friend of former Goa Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco, Torrado consumed poison in May 2010 due to alleged mental harassment by Pacheco. Her ex-husband, Winston Barreto had gone on record to accuse Pacheco of having an affair with his wife and Torrado's mother Sonia, along with Pacheco, were arrested in this death case.
