Days after the intelligentsia, politicians and activists petitioned the US government, alleging injury and neglect to 16-month-old Indrasish in foster care, his family alleged that the foster care authorities are planning an operation on him without proper medical advice.
The New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency are also trying to conduct the operation without approval from his parents, even though the parents are expected to bear the cost of the child's upkeep and medical treatment.
On September 7, the US authorities had taken away Indrasish from parents Debasish and Pamela Saha, alleging negligence after he sustained head injuries at their New Jersey home. The parents said he had fallen from the bed but the US authorities alleged that the baby was suffering from Shaken Baby Syndrome. The matter is since being heard in a US court.
