How did the releases this week (Jism 2, Krishna Aur Kans, Step Up Revolution, Total Recall) fare at the box office? We take a look...
BO performance of Jism 2
Verdict: Hit.
All India collections: 21 crores (approx, opening weekend)
Audience reaction: Sunny Leone's debut movie surely generated a lot of curiosity, but the finished product has drawn in a mixed response. Still, the producers are happy with the collections, given that the movie was released during Ramazan. The movie opened reasonably well, with 60% or above occupancy rates across centres. However, there was a massive fall on Saturday (upto 40%) due to negative reviews and word-of-mouth publicity.
Projection for next week: The film's collections aren't expected to pick up, seeing that part two of Anurag Kashyap's film 'Gangs of Wasseypur' is set to release on Wednesday itself.
BO performance of other Bollywood releases
'Krishna aur Kans' and 'Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai' have flopped miserably and analysts say that the collections (ranging in thousands) won't even be able to cover print and publicity costs.
BO performance of Hollywood releases
According to analysts, Colin Farrell-starrer 'Total Recall' opened at 25 per cent and dropped further but 'Step Up Revolution' has shown steady rise in collections.
Last week's release
'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' continues to draw in crowds and made a cool Rs 5.85 crores in its second weekend at the box office. The movie's current overall collection stands at Rs 39.55 crores.
