Barfi! and Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal released last Friday
How did the releases this week fare at the box office? We take a look...
BO performance of Barfi!
Verdict: Hit
All India collections: 41.10 crores (4-day collection)
With a limited release, 'Barfi!' still seem to be drawing the audiences in and a major reason for the same is glowing reviews from the critics for Ranbir's performance. The movie collected a whopping 34 crores over the weekend.
Projection for next week: Given the rave reviews and positive word-of-mouth publicity the movie has received, 'Barfi!' will continue to do moderately well in the week to come. However, cousin Kareena is waiting in the wings to steal Ranbir's thunder with 'Heroine' that releases this Friday and it remains to be seen how critics receive Madhur Bhandarkar's next, that is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year.
BO performance of Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal
Verdict: Flop
Ravi Kissen might have thought that Ranbir Kapoor was no competition for him, but he was sadly mistaken. 'Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal' has been written off as a box office disaster.
BO performance of last week's releases
'Raaz 3' has now amassed Rs 64 crores but made less than expected in its second week at the box office. The makers and cast may have hoped that the movie touches the magic 100 crore mark, but it's unlikely that the Bhatt thriller will make more than 75 crores. However, there is still much to cheer about as the movie is now the biggest grosser ever in the horror genre.
