It's been a busy and controversial week for the movies. Let's see how the new releases fared at the box office!
BO performance of David

Verdict: Flop
All India collections: Rs 2.5 crore (opening weekend)
Despite good to rave reviews, Bejoy Nambiar's 'David' has proved to be a box office failure. It had a poor opening and is unlikely to pick up in the coming week that will see the release of 'ABCD' and 'Special 26'.
BO performance of Vishwaroop

Verdict: Average
All India collections: Rs 8 crore (opening weekend)
It may not have released as according to plan, but Kamal Haasan's 'Vishwaroop' was the clear winner from among this week's releases. The collections are now bound to pick up given that the film will release in Chennai this week. Controversy helped Haasan gain eyeballs and it has done his movie good.
The week's other releases 'Listen... Amaya', 'Mai' and 'Deewana Main Deewana' performed miserably. Even 'Midnight's Children', that enjoyed its own fair share of controversy, failed to draw in the crowds
BO performance of earlier releases

Despite the negative reviews, 'Race 2' has left its critics in the dust and has emerged as the year's first 100 crore movie. Having already crossed the mark worldwide, it is sitting pretty on over Rs 90 crore in domestic collections so far.
