The first week of the new year saw as many as four movies releasing at the box office. Out of the four movies- Table no 21, 'Rajdhani Express', 'Dehradun Diaries', 'Meri Shaadi Karao'- only Table no 21 managed to get a decent opening. We take a look at how the movies fared at the BO.
The Rajeev Khandelwal and Tena Desae starrer 'Table No 21' surprised everyone by collecting around Rs 4 crore in its opening weekend. The small budget film with a relatively unknown cast is the only saving grace at the BO this week.
Tennis star Leander Paes' 'Rajdhani Express' could make only Rs 1 crore, 'Dehradun Diaries' made less than Rs 50 lakh in its first weekend, while Meri Shadi Karado vanished without a trace.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra states, "The general norm of the first week of a new year being bad continued. All the films were disappointing barring Table No 21, which was average. The publicity was not as exciting as it should have been. On the other hand Dabangg 2 is on its way out."
Everybody is eagerly awaiting Vishal Bhardwaj's first comedy film 'Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola', which releases this Firday.
