Huma Qureshi has not had a single release to her credit but the actress has five films on the floors. The actress who left for the screening of her debut venture Gangs of Wasseypur at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival is excited about her whirlwind romance with Bollywood.
'Gangs of Wasseypur' explores the coal mafia in Dhanbad and Huma plays a girl named Mohsina in the movie. Revealing more about her role, she says, "Mohsina is a small town girl of the 1990s, and she is heavily influenced by Bollywood. In her head, she's the Madhuri Dixit of her town. She is in love with a man who is into the local gang. He also grows up seeing Amitabh Bachchan."
Besides the sequel of Gangs of Wasseypur, she will be soon seen in Anurag Kashyap's next Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana to be directed by Sameer Sharma, Vishal Bhardwaj's Ek Thi Daayan and Nikhil Advani's untitiled action film.
"They are all different roles. Luv Shuv They Chicken Khurana is India's first food film, a romantic comedy, Vishal Bhardwaj's Ek Thi Daayan is being directed by Kannan Iyer and is a supernatural psychological thriller. Nikhil Advani's film is an action film for which I will be training very hard. I am blessed that all these directors have selected me and I am confident that I can pull of these diverse roles well," says Qureshi.
A Delhi-ite Huma belongs to a conservative family. Her father owns a chain of restaurants named Salim’s who specialize in Kababs and Curries. Quiz her about doing a film opposite serial kisser Emraan Hashmi and Huma laughs.
"Who said about having any kissing scenes with him. It's a Vishal Bhardwaj film so wait and watch. Emraan always keeps me teasing about him being a serial kisser but he is a very professional and intelligent actor," she says.
However conservative she is in real life Huma, is not averse to donning a bikini on screen for films. "I don’t know as of now but may be if the script demands it I can think of it (of wearing a bikini). I should be convinced about my character and how my director plans to shoot it. There are a lot of factors involved into it. Let such a film come to me and I will think about it," says the actress.
Very few people know that the actress has a brother who has already made his debut into films. "My brother Saqib Saleem made his debut in Y-Films' Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge and will soon be seen in Y-Films' next, Mere Dad Ki Maruti. He has more knowledge about films than me. He is my best friend and a sounding board too," she informs.
