'Gangnam Style' Psy may have captured the world's imagination to become the most watched artist on YouTube, but Indian viewers have a different favourite. According to YouTube, Punjabi popstar Yo Yo Honey Singh's song 'Brown Rang' emerged as 2012's most watched video in India.

Besides views, this year YouTube factored the number of Likes, searches and popularizing gimmicks like parodies and remixes that added to the fan following for a video. Yo Yo Honey Singh gathered about 9 million viewers to top the trending list in India.

Before the singer frequented Bollywood circles, he was a regular feature in nightclubs, pop charts and playlists. Honey Singh's song ‘Lak 28 Kudi Da’ reached No1 spot in BBC Asian Download Charts in May 2011. Songs like 'High Heels' and 'Angrezi Beat' made the singer a foot-tapping favorite.

His tryst with Bollywood began with 'Angrezi Beat' which made its way into the Saif-Deepika starrer 'Cocktail'. Reports say the pop star charged a whopping Rs 70 lakh to compose for an upcoming Naseeruddin Shah film titled 'Mastaan', making him the highest paid singer in Bollywood. The next on the list is Sonu Nigam, who charges Rs. 10 - 12 lakh at the most!

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is a big fan of the artist and the maverick director said he was stunned at how Singh's fans fell at his feet. The singer too professed his love for Kashyap and the two have collaborated on Honey Singh's latest project ' Satan', a single released on 12-12-12. Kashyap has also proposed to make Singh his muse for a script someday.

With Anurag Kashyap for a cheerleader, Yo Yo is clearly whooping his way to success!
