Undoubtedly the hottest Bollywood couple this year, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor made headlines when the two decided to finally the knot. After a courtship that lasted five years, the couple got married on October 16. But apart from their wedding, the couple unfortunately had a rough year, where both their films (Agent Vinod, Heroine) failed to work wonders at the box-office.
Saif Ali Khan arrested again
In February this year, Saif Ali Khan made news for all the wrong reasons when he was booked for beating up a South African businessman at a five-star restaurant in Mumbai. Saif was dining with Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Malaika and Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak at a swanky Japanese restaurant when the incident took place. Apparently, the celebs were making too much noise and were told by Sharma to tone down a bit, which annoyed Saif. Sharma filed an FIR saying that he got punched and his father-in-law was also harmed in the brawl.
Agent Vinod & Heroine disappoints
When it rains, it pours. Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Agent Vinod’ and Saif’s home production didn’t manage to make the kind of bang at the box office that it had hoped too. The ‘Bebo-Saif’ jodi also failed to deliver a hit after their forgettable 2009 film ‘Kurbaan’. The spy flick was one of the biggest disappointments of the year, considering all the hype that preceeded its release
Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’ was also a lukewarm affair. The role which was considered to be Kareena’s most significant to date, lacked novelty and was clichéd and Bebo watched in dismay as her cousin Ranbir collected all the accolades for his release ‘Barfi!’ that had hit theatres only a week before ‘Heroine’
Qubool hai, qubool hai, qubool hai

The couple's official wedding portrait
It was the wedding of the year and the who’s who of the industry was in attendance. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor were declared man and wife on October 16 and they hosted a grand reception, that saw folks like Shashi Tharoor, Rahul Gandhi and Sheila Dikshit in attendance apart from their Bollywood friends.
As expected, the wedding received considerable attention from the media and even goat sellers at a Delhi market tried to cash in on the hype. Two goats named Saif and Kareena were being sold at a Delhi market on the eve of Eid al Adha - for a whopping price of Rs 4 lakh!
A better 2013?
2012 ends on a hopeful note for both actors. We will soon be watching Saif Ali Khan share screen space with John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Race 2’ that releases on January 25, 2013. His lady love Bebo has also been on the receiving end of much praise for her role in ‘Talaash’ and Kareena also has a mega release in the next year – the sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ with Akshay Kumar. We wish the couple a great year ahead!
