Bollywood actor Sonu Sood feels that this is the time for action films. With films like 'Maximum' and 'Shootout at Wadala' lined up, he is all set to become the next action hero of Bollywood.
"It's not like I have not got offers for romantic films, but I feel that this is the time to do action films in Bollywood. But of course I would like to do a romantic film in the future as well," he said at the music launch of 'Maximum' here Monday.
Sonu will be seen playing the role of a tough police officer in the Kabeer Kaushik film. It is believed that the role has been inspired from real life cops like "encounter (shoot-out) specialist" Pradeep Sharma of the Mumbai Police.
Talking about his role, Sonu said: "I thoroughly enjoyed this role. When you play a cop, it's a different feeling altogether. It's based on real characters. I really liked playing it."
The story of the film revolves around the rivalry between two police officers (Sonu and Naseeruddin Shah) and their struggle for maximum power.
Sonu is very happy with the film and says that he has been waiting to sign such a film. "I have been waiting for a film like 'Maximum'. I have learnt so many things while shooting this film. The entire cast has been a pleasure to work with," he added.
The film is all set to release on June 29.
Asked whether this is his best performance so far, Sonu said: "I don't know if this will be my best performance as an actor. That the audience will be able to tell. But yes, this is one of my most special performances and it is very close to my heart."
