According to a recent audience research by a media agency, everyone wants actor Ranbir Kapoor to be the next Bollywood star to make his TV debut. The survey was conducted by Ormax Media, that independently carries out entertainment-oriented researches on various media platforms. The company’s monthly research called Stars India Loves shows the 29-year-old actor, whose last release 'Rockstar' won him both critical and mass acclaim, is among the top five actors in the industry. In another study conducted among young Indians to understand which genres of films they want to see specific stars in, 57 per cent respondents wanted to watch Ranbir in romantic films.
Over a period of time, various studies have hinted that the television audiences want to see Ranbir in a youth-oriented show as a judge or host. Shailesh Kapoor, the head of the research company, says, “Almost all the top actors have done a fair share of television. Ranbir Kapoor is among the few top stars who have not done TV so far. He has a youthful presence. If a show suits his image well, the audience will enjoy watching him in it.”
The actor has actually been offered quite a few reality shows over the years. Ranbir does not disclose the names of the shows he’s turned down, saying that it would be unprofessional to do so. He says that at the moment, cinema is his focus, and he would like to take on TV assignments later in his career:
“Actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have made their way to the small screen in a big way. But they did it only after making a mark for themselves as actors. I have a long way to go as far as movies are concerned. There are so many different genres which I’m keen to try. TV can happen, but only after a few years maybe,” says Ranbir.
