They are super-successful in their respective fields. So when cricketer Virat Kohli and actor-director Prabhudheva come together, things are bound to get interesting. And that’s exactly what happened when the two shot for a shoe ad in Bangkok.
Dancing legend Prabhudheva, venturing into the ad world, designed some special steps inspired by martial artist-actor Jackie Chan, which Virat mastered after a lot of practice and training. “The idea was to make the ad look different and funny. Initially, it was supposed to be a run-of-the-mill kind of commercial, but when Prabhudheva sat for the final ideation, he thought of putting in some funny martial arts moves, made popular by Chan. The results have been impressive to say the least,” says an insider.
When contacted, Prabhudheva confirms: “Virat is superb. We shot for a couple of days in Bangkok, and his energy is awesome. I gave him some Jackie Chan-styled funny martial arts steps (in the ad). And it has worked out well. He was more than game to try them out.”
Rumours suggest that Prabhudheva and Virat — after their big bonding spree — will join hands for a movie that will be Virat’s launch pad into Bollywood. “I don’t understand such reports,” laughs the 'Rowdy Rathore' director. “There’s nothing like that. His main job is to play cricket. Why would Virat act in a film?”
'The Wanted' (2008) director’s next film, after the blockbuster 'Rowdy Rathore', is Kumar Taurani’s son Girish’s debut vehicle. Shruti Haasan stars opposite Girish in the yet-untitled film.
