As always, the Oscars gave us fashion moments that we will cherish forever and others that we'd like to forget as soon as possible. So, who were the night's best and worst dressed folks? We separate the wheat from the chaff...
Jennifer Lawrence is the evening's silver lining

BEST DRESSED: Best actress winner Jennifer Lawrence chose a dreamy Dior gown that might have let her down as she made her way to the stage to collect her award, but let her shine like a diamond on the red carpet. But more importantly, the dress didn't fall to pieces unlike the Dior gown she wore to the Screen Actors Guild awards. Maybe it's time for a shift in loyalties? Sticking to Dior has proved twice unlucky for the talented actress!
Dear Anne, your headlights are on

WORST DRESSED: Anne Hathaway was certainly excited about taking home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, but you didn't have to look at her face to tell how ecstatic she was. Her pale Prada dress with darts most unfortunately located, drew attention to her headlights (ahem) all evening. Within moments of her stepping out on to the red carpet, her nipples even gained their own Twitter account and trending topic (#lesnipplerables). Dear Anne, this is the Oscars, not Sex and the City, so tape up for Chrissake. But nipplegate wasn't the only reason we didn't care for this dress. While the front screamed elegance, the back was a criss-crossy mess, making the gown a sort of Two Face-like haute couture villain and unworthy of Catwoman.
The Aussies fight back

BEST DRESSED: Their countrymen might be struggling against the Boys in Blue in Chennai, but these two ladies from Down Under certainly made a winning statement at the Oscars. Nicole Kidman (left, in L'Wren Scott) and Naomi Watts (Armani Prive) both chose metallic stunners and looked great (though this round clearly goes to Naomi).
Diwali arrives early this year

WORST DRESSED: While we think Salma Hayek is a beautiful lady and was perfectly audible (yes, we're talking to you Mr MacFarlane), we did NOT care for the Alexander McQueen dress. The embellished collar made it her look like a Diwali advertisement for Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri and the high neck was a bad choice for a short woman.
Charlize is a vision in white

BEST DRESSED: Many ladies stuck to pastels on Oscars night but none shone brighter than Charlize Theron in this two-piece Dior outfit. The dress was offset by a great tan, sparkling jewellry and a sexy, short haircut.
Mrs Ben Affleck, your dress... IT'S ALIVE!!!

WORST DRESSED: We wonder why the guys at Gucci played such a horrible prank on Jennifer Garner on her husband's big night. The custom made gown had ruffles all the way down the back, that gave the front-facing impression that it was exploding. We have no problems with the colour since the aubergine shade looked great on the actress, but the tail of a train is so distracting that we'd can't help but hate this look
And while those round up our best and worst dressed celebrities for the evening, we had to give out one more award to a deserving recepient...
The most MEMORABLE accessory of the evening

Without on-off beau Robert Pattinson in tow, Kristen Stewart had to make do with crutches on the red carpet. Not the most flattering accessory, but certainly the most unique. We predict that Twihards everywhere are now rushing to stores to get a pair that'll go with nothing.
