Kevin Pietersen is going to the WorldT20 after all. It’s just that you will see him holding a microphone, not a willow in Sri Lanka. After failing to find a spot in the England T20 squad, the temperamental KP has signed up as commentator for the World T20.
While not much is known about KP’s commentating ability, cricket fans and the broadcaster, ESPN STAR Sports, nonetheless would be rubbing their hands in glee, anticipating some juicy revelations, maybe the exact content of the controversial texts he sent to the South Africa players about his skipper Andrew Strauss, if they are lucky.
The development may cause some more heartburn amongst his England teammates and the board. Yet to get over his texts, which reportedly contained some information about the team, apart from the disparaging remarks about Strauss, they must be horrified at the thought of the ‘damage’ he could inflict from the commentators’ box, analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the team.
Worse, the ECB won’t be able to haul him up for this. The man, however, doesn’t seem to have any such intentions. He wants England to defend their title, with or without him. “I am very excited about covering the ICC World Twenty20 and watching England defend their title,” Pietersen said.
