Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova defeated France's Marion Bartoli 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the US Open semi-finals.

The match between Sharapova, the world No. 3, and eleventh seed Bartoli lasted two hours 32 minutes Wednesday.

Sharapova will play top seed Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, who beat world No. 7 Australia's Samantha Stosur 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).
