Gautam Gambhir believes in keeping things simple. The Indian opener made a fluent 92 to set up a magnificent win for the visitors chasing Australia's 269 under lights in the CB Series at the Adelaide Oval here yesterday.

His 111-ball stay comprised seven fours before he was dubiously adjudged leg before off Clint McKay in the 35th over.

Though Gambhir was seen working on his back lift with coach Duncan Fletcher in the nets during the tour, the southpaw insisted that he hasn't altered anything in his batting.

"I haven't changed anything as I just want to keep it simple," said the man of the match in the post-match briefing.

"I said at a press conference during the Test series, I have not altered anything. It may look like (I have changed my batting style), but for me it was all about having a clear mind," he added.

Elaborating his 'keep it simple' theory, he said: "At the end of the day, if the ball is there to hit, you hit and that's how simple it can be. But we complicate things in our mind," he said.

However, Gambhir did state he is working on different aspects of his batting. "Of course, I want to evolve my game and succeed, so there are things I work on in the nets but nothing drastic," said Gambhir.

He praised rookie pacer Umesh Yadav, who claimed two wickets yesterday. "We have a knack of producing good batsmen, but now we have a genuine quick bowler, who can trouble the opposition with pace.

We never had a bowler who bowls at 150 kmph, but now we have one who can give it back to the opposition.
"He is an asset to Indian cricket. We need to look after him and keep him fit," he concluded.
