Oscar Fernandes (born 27 March 1941) is a Minister of state (independent charge) of the Ministry of Labour and Employment in Dr. Manmohan Singh's UPA government in India. He is a senior Indian National Congress Leader and AICC General Secretary. He was previously elected from this home city of Udupi, in Karnataka. Later he joined the Rajya Sabha. As union minister in UPA government he gave some bold statements. In a statement recently he said that the killing of CEO of a company in Greater Noida should be a warning to the management and criticized the dismissal of the laborers who allegedly did the crime.
