Fatwa against writer Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nasreen (2007)
The Owaisi scion, who pursued medicine till his second year of MBBS before quitting it to join politics, threatened o carry out a fatwa issued against writer Salman Rushdie in 2007 for hurting the sentiments of Muslims. He also threatened to behead Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen and openly remarked, 'See what happened to Taslima and P V Narasimha Rao. They were forced into oblivion for hurting the sentiments of the Muslims.'

Called AP MLA's Kafirs & Kufrastan (2011)
Owaisi, who fell in love and got married to a Christian woman much against his parents' wishes, has always been a rebel. He used the derogatory terms Kafirs (disbeliever or infidel) and Kufrastan to refer to MLAs in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He also used the words katil (murderer), darinda (monster), beimaan (dishonest), dhokebaaz (cheat), and chor (thief) for former Prime Minister of India P V Narasimha Rao. Moreover, Owaisi said that if Rao had not died, (Owaisi) would have killed him with his bare hands.

If demeaning the Hindus wasn't enough, the 42-year-old MIL MLA made derogatory remarks against the Hindu god Ram too. He asked at a rally,'Where all did Ram’s mother (Kaushalya) go wandering and where did she give birth to him?'
