The lehenga Sari

The lehenga-sari was a hybrid that featured the best of two outfits and became a hot celebrity favourite. While Deepika Padukone (right) wears hers with much grace, the same can't be said about Rani Mukerji, but props to her for trying

The peplum

The peplum, a half skirt attached to the waist of a longer skirt or dress, was all the rage in 2012. Preity Zinta (left), Parineeti Chopra (centre) and Esha Gupta all ooze style in their outfits here

Suit up!

Celebrity addiciton with androgyny continued from 2011 to 2012 and more women were seen suiting up than before. While Anushka Sharma (left) and Sonam Kapoor (right) get it bang on, the same can't be said for Sonam's sister Rhea (centre) who looked more frump than fab in this baggy suit

B-town goes to the prom

These lovely ladies pulled out their finest ball gowns for evenings out this year. We love Freida Pinto's (right) fiery red gown, Parineeti Chopra's (left) voluminous dress and even Poorna Jagannathan's stately ensemble. Any princess would be proud to own the gowns seen here

Palazzo pants

Comfort doesn't always mean style but 2012 changed that when palazzo pants burst onto the scene. Our celebrities wore them in different ways like Anushka Sharma (left), who chose to go the floral route and Alia Bhatt, who kept it cute in sheer pants

Orange you glad?

The hottest colour of the year was undoubtedly orange and our stars wore it with pizzazz. Check out Priyanka Chopra (left), Jacqueline Fernandez (centre) and Anushka Sharma (right) looking delish in the hue!

Coloured denims

Do your jeans still have the blues? Denims gained a new lease of colour in 2012 with celebrities being spotted in trousers in all kinds of hues (Katrina Kaif, left) and prints (Deepika Padukone, right). Even the men, like Ayushmann Khurrana (centre), couldn't resist!

Geek chic

Nerdy frames, that had a brief resurgence post 'Kal Ho Na Ho' (thanks to Preity Zinta), came back with a bang in 2012. Check out Sonakshi Sinha (left), Kangna Ranaut (centre) and Chitrangada Singh (right), looking sexy AND smart!

Dark lips

Just a dab of lip gloss or balm wasn't enough for our divas in 2012! They stepped out with lips lined and filled with dark colours like pink (Priyanka Chopra), burgundy (Neha Dhupia) and engine red (Kareena Kapoor)!

The return of the sari

The sari, erstwhile the outfit of mummies, made an enormous comeback! While Vidya Balan (left) rocked silk saris (how appropriate), Sridevi (right) looked like a million bucks in a net one with a long sleeved blouse and Dipannita Sharma (centre) had fun with colours and prints

Bollywood braids up

Braids were no longer the hairstyle of only schoolgirls in 2012. Celebrities wore their hair in plaits everywhere - from launches to red carpet dos. Kalki Koechlin (right) looked charming with a fishtail braid, while Shriya Saran made for a rustic beauty with her plait hanging down her back
