Kolkata Knight Riders won season five of the IPL after they defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets in the final held at Chennai. However we have our very own dream line up! Here are the players who would make in.com's XI
Ajinkya Rahane (Rajasthan Royals) Rajasthan Royals were having a ball at the start of the league and Ajinkya Rahane's run with the bat was integral to their good run. With 560 runs to his name which includes a ton, there is no doubt Ajinkya Rahane fits our bill to open the inning for our team!
Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore)The winner of the IPL's Orange cap this season, Chris Gayle's choice was a no brainer. Amassing 733 runs at an average of 61.08, Gayle single handedly took the mantle of winning the games for RCB. Whether he plays for West Indies or not, he is surely in our team!
Faf du Plessis (Chennai Super Kings)Before the arrival of Michael Hussey, it was the South African Faf du Plessis who stole the limelight. He had a very good outing at the top for the CSK which saw him scoring 398 runs. Du Plessis still remains an imperative part of Dhoni's Super Kings.
Shikhar Dhawan (Deccan Chargers)It was a dismal season for the Deccan Chargers but there is still a ray of hope in the form of Shikhar Dhawan who batted beautifully throughout the tournament. A total of 569 runs for him in the league stage must have surely made the Indian selectors take notice. He makes the cut for us though!
Gautam Gambhir (Kolkata Knight Riders)Gauti, without a doubt, is our choice for the skipper of the tournament. Leading by example, Gambhir set the tone for the Kolkata Knight Riders to win their maiden IPL trophy. Even though he finished behind Gayle in the runs department, Gambhir is our pick over MS Dhoni!
Rahul Dravid (Rajasthan Royals)Who could have expected 'The Wall' Rahul Dravid to be amongst the top 10 highest run-scoring batsmen. Such was the greatness of the man, it showed in his batting and the way he led his team.
AB De Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore)Our man behind the wickets has to be an in-form batsman who set the stage alive and it was none other than the dashing AB de Villiers. His attacking display in the IPL was a treat to watch especially when he blasted his fellow countryman Dale Steyn to all corners of the park.
Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders)What a find for the Gambhir-led side this season. Plucking 24 wickets at an economy rate of 5.47, Sunil Narine left many batsmen bamboozled with his spin. The West Indian is really the star of this year's lucrative tournament and KKR will depend on him heavily as defending champions next year.
Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians)Harbhajan Singh and his team will like to forget this season as soon as possible but one bright spot for them was the Sri Lankan seamer Lasith Malinga. The 'toe-crusher' was at it again, picking up 22 wickets on the way. Mumbai need to keep hold of their prize asset if they are to win the Indian Premier League.
Parwinder Awana (Kings XI Punjab)This lad has all the qualities to make it big on the Indian scene. Mentored by Adam Gilchirst, Awana made the ball do the talking as he clinched 17 wickets. Many cricket analysts and ex-cricketers have praised the young Awana who has taken the IPL 5 season by storm.
Morne Morkel (Delhi Daredevils)The tall, lanky South African has been a revelation for the Delhi team in this year's Indian Premier League. Morne was the winner of the bowler's Purple Cap with 25 wickets to his name in the tournament.
