Ugly: Leander Paes Indian star Leander Paes, who had won a bronze medal in Atlanta, returned empty handed and with his tail between his legs from London. After no one wanted to partner him, Paes paired up with rookie Vishnu Vardhan who was making his Olympics debut. Paes questioned Vardhan's capability before the pair set off for London – a move that could have done little to boost the spirit of his partner, and the duo crashed out of the men's doubles event. Leander also partnered Sania Mirza (who has accused the players and AITA of 'chauvinism') in the mixed doubles but also eventually ending up exiting after a loss in the quarter final stage.

Ugly: Mahesh Bhupathi The ugly underbelly of Indian tennis was exposed when Mahesh Bhupathi refused to play with his most 'celebrated' partner Leander Paes at the London Olympics, and was thus paired with Rohan Bopanna. Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna were ousted from the Olympics Men's doubles in the second round.

Ugly: Indian hockey's debacleAfter a resounding qualifying campaign, many former athletes said that Indian hockey team would be able to at least bag bronze. But those hopes proved quite farfetched, as the team has lost all the games they've played to date. Coach Nobbs was critical of their display and lamented about the players' poor performance. What do you think of our series, tell us in the comments section.
