Murphy Radio: The protagonist Ranbir Kapoor is named after the chubby Murphy baby as his mother wanted him to be as cuddly as the famous radio mascot. The baby features in many crucial scenes, including Kapoor’s birth scene. Incidentally, ‘Murphy’ (pronounced as ‘Barfi’ by Ranbir) is the only word that Ranbir exchanges with Priyanka Chopra in the whole film!

Avon cyclesBarfi’s escapades, romance and chases, they all revolve around an Avon cycle. He takes Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz) on long, romantic rides on his cycle and he even escapes the local police on his cycle many times! The cycle is a nice prop as it used to be an indispensable part of every middle-class household, especially in smaller towns.

Prestige cooker: The director has not only featured the cooker, but also used its famous tagline ‘Jo biwi se kare pyar woh Prestige se kaise karre inkaar’ in the movie. Barfi mends cooker handles at a Prestige shop where he meets Shruti for the second time, which forms the turning point in the movie.

S Paul umbrellas: S Paul umbrella is as Indian as Indianess can ever be and the umbrella has been featured in many scenes in the movie, including the one where Ranbir is seen soaking in the rain and Ileana rushes to hold up the S Paul for him. His heartbreak is captured in the gloom of the rains, while Ileana’s helplessness reflects in her feeble attempt at holding the umbrella open for her lover.
