After SRK came under fire for his comments in an interview, he found a friend in Pakistan's Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, who asked Indian authorities to provide Khan with additional security.

Shah Rukh's connection with Pakistan can be traced to even before Partition. His family's paternal side used to reside in Peshawar's Shah Wali Qataal area of Peshawar's famous Qissa Khwani (Kahani) bazaar. His father Taj Muhammad was born in Pakistan and SRK also has many cousins there.

Shah Rukh distant relative is the Pakistan ISI chief! Lt. Gen Zahir-ul-Islam's father served as a brigadier in the Pakistan Army and Shah Nawaz Khan, who was a major general in the INA led by Subhas Chandra Bose, was his uncle. Shah Rukh Khan: The owner of IPL team 'Kolkata Knight Riders', Shah Rukh Khan will yet again perform at the Indian Premier League and his company has been given charge of organizing the event in Kolkata. SRK is no stranger to the opening ceremony stage, having performed at the 2011 Champions League and the 2009 IPL ceremony.

That Shah Rukh Khan movies are popular in Pakistan is nothing new. One Pakistani fan, a 15-year-old boy from Pakistan, even crossed the border only because he wanted to meet his favourite superstar. However before his wish could be fulfilled, he was arrested by the Border Security Force.
