Oscar winner Christian Bale again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne and Batman.

Actress Anne Hathaway is the Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in the film.

Tom Hardy plays the masked terrorist Bane in the film.

Hollywood beauties Jessica Biel, Gemma Arterton, Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley, Keira Knightley and Anne Hathaway all auditioned for the role of Catwoman. Ultimately, the role went to Hathaway.

To prepare for his role as Bane, Tom Hardy gained 30 pounds and studied various fighting styles.

Director Christopher Nolan used a codename for the movie while shooting the film to avoid press attention. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ was known as 'Magnus Rex'. Magnus is one of Nolan's kids.

Apart from New York, Los Angeles, England and Scotland, some parts of the movie was also shot in Jodhpur's Mehrangar Fort.
