Season 6 of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' has its first crorepati when Manoj Singh Raina, a railways employee from Jammu, walked away with a cool crore. He was unable to answer the Rs 5 crore question, but is predictably over the moon about his winnings!
Anil Kumar Sinha
The quiz-enthusiast answered all 14 questions in season five correctly to win a crore, but he couldn't win the jackpot 5 crore amount as he was unsure about the last question. A banker by profession, Anil Kumar Sinha wanted to set up a trauma care unit for accident victims with the prize money.
A computer operator from Bihar, Sushil Kumar won a whopping Rs 5 crore on season five of Kaun Banega Crorepati. Sushil, who was earning a mere Rs.6, 000 per month, is one of the fortunate folks who went on to win big money on the show. He recently participated in the dance show 'Jhalak Dikhkhla Jaa'.
Harshawardhan Nawathe, the 27-year-old Mumbaikar, became the first crorepati of season 1. Harshawardhan, who had just appeared for his IPS exam, decided to give the quiz show a try and won big.
Lady luck smiled upon 14-year-old Ravi Saini who walked away with a cheque of Rs1 crore. Saini, a teenager from Vishakhapatnam managed to clinch the title on Kaun Banega Crorepati Junior. No one had expected him to win as he had used a lifeline for the very first question. But fate had other plans for Ravi, who is the youngest crorepati from the KBC stable.
Vijay and Arundhati Raul
In the ‘Pati-Patni' special episode, a Rourkela couple struck gold when they won a crore. Vijay Raul, an engineer with SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited), and his Arundhati were hooked on to the quiz show before appearing on it. They would also watch other shows like 'Mastermind' and 'Bournvita Quiz Contest', and it looks like the same helped them win the prize money.
Ajay and Kajol Devgn
The star couple played for charity on a Dussehra special episode. It was fun to see Ajay and Kajol argue all the way through. Kajol especially had her husband and Amitabh in splits with each question.
An electronics engineer from Guna, Brajesh Dubey won Rs1 crore during season two. The prize money had been doubled to Rs.2 crore in this season, but as he was uncertain about his answer to the last question, Brajesh quit with a crore in hand. According to him, it was an amount he never even dreamt of seeing his entire life.
A confident 37-year-old Rahat is the only female contestant to win a crore till date. Rahat, who ran a tailoring class, had just three rupees of talktime credit on her cellphone and she used it to send an SMS to enter the show. She impressed host Amitabh with her confidence, who praised her, saying that she was a master of the game indeed.
