Paresh Rawal-starrer OMG Oh My God released without any expectations or buzz, but the positibve word-of-mouth publicity and the social message carried by the film began attracting viewers to cineam halls. Made on a budget of about Rs. 20 crore, the film's collections have reached more than Rs. 50 crore at the end of week 2.

New faces, a plot revolving around sperm donation and completely devoid of any frills or 'item' numbers, nobody really thought this VJ-truned-actor Ayushmann Khurana's debut film will be hit the bull's eye. But the light-hearted comedy with a social message went on to be a huge hit with the masses and critics alike.

Vidya Balan, sporting a pregnant belly, tries to find her missing husband amid the festivties of 'Durga Pujo'. Nobody really thought a pregnant protagonist would be able to carry off a thriller on her own. But Vidya pulled it off, and how! It became a huge hit and is one of Balan's best performances after 'The Dirty Picture'.

Everybody expected this Irrfan Khan-starrer, which was made on a shoestring budget of Rs. 8 crore, to be an arty affair that would not fetch big bucks but would be critically acclaimed. But the biopic, based on a champion athlete, went on to make around Rs. 40 crore at the box-office.

1920 Evil returns: Nobody expected this Aftab Shivdasani film to make it big at the BO, but surprisingly, it did. This horror movie that also starred newcomer Tia Bajpai raked in approximately Rs 12.43 crores!

Ishaqzaade: Even though nothing about the plot was new, the treatment was definitely unique and appealing. With Arjun Kapoor making his debut opposite one-film-old Parineeti Chopra, this film was not on anybody's list of BO hits, but it made roaring business, pulling in a whopping 48 cr!
