Strongly opposing FDI in retail sector, Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress moved a no-confidence motion against UPA government despite being isolated by the opposition parties over it. But TMC's no trust motion was rejected by the Speaker who said it doesn't have the numbers. Banerjee has earlier also threatened to break away from the UPA after the government decided to introduce FDI in retail. "I would like to see colourful things, but these things can be done after arranging food in your home," she had said, referring to the fact that FDI retail would spell the death knell for kirana stores.
