Teri Meri Kahani
To quote Piggy Chops, her next Friday release is not a ‘reincarnation film’ but based on the janam janam ka saath concept. The lead pair of Sasha and PeeCee would be seen romancing in 1910, 1960 and then in 2012! Well if this is not what re-birth is, then what exactly is? We should put our concerns on hold till 22nd of June.
Dangerous Ishq
Given the title, it is natural to assume that this was a risky affair. It was more of a fashion parade, where Karishma Kapoor was at her best to establish herself as a style diva. Sanjana’s boyfriend Rohan gets kidnapped and then begins the journey of rescuing the main lead through past lives.As if it was her pichle janam ke paap because of which this kidnapping happened.
The movie was more of an ensemble of all those stars that were long forgotten like Gracy Singh, Arya Babbar, Divya Dutta? Well we don’t blame you if you don’t remember them! It took us few minutes ourselves…
Om Shanti Om
Reviving the spirit of reincarnation was Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. Story revolves around a struggler who falls in love with a famous actress. Om’s soul seeks love and revenge and will not rest until it attains peace and tranquility. OSO spans generations, and the sets and costumes were all very time appropriate. Apart from the rebirth formula, Farah Khan was able to put in all the right ingredients, including humour, music and masala.
Karan Arjun
In 1995, Rakesh Roshan made the super hit Karan Arjun that starred Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. But all the credit goes to the legendary Rakhee, her role was of utmost important, it was her dialogues that echoed through our ears “Mere Karan – Arjun Aayenge” and we believe that it wasn’t Mamta Kulkarni’s bare back but this constant nagging from Rakhee which brought back the dead duo back from the dead.
Karz
The true super hit revolving around reincarnation came in the form of Subhash Ghai’s Karz in 1980. Even while reading this you can hear the famous guitar tune at the backdrop. Ravi Verma comes back as Monty to take his revenge from his witchy wife Kamini (read, whatever you please too), who tricks him in his previous life for all his wealth. The acting, the music, the locales, cutie pie Tina Munim and handsome hunk Rishi Kapoor all these were bang on, to make this flick one of the favorites of all time.
