Saira Banu, also known as Saira Bano, is an Indian Bollywood actress and the wife of the film actor Dilip Kumar. She acted in many Bollywood films between 1960 and 1980.
Saira Banu was born in India to actress of 30s-40s,[1] and the granddaughter of a courtesan Chamiyan Bai, also known as Shamshad Begum of Delhi.
Banu made her acting debut at 17 years opposite Shammi Kapoor in the 1961 film Junglee for which she earned her first Filmfare nomination as Best Actress.
Her valiant attempts to establish a reputation as an actress after Gopi, Sagina and Bairaag (all with Dilip Kumar) and films like Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Chaitali met with limited success.
Banu married actor Dilip Kumar in 1966.It is rumoured that she had an affair with actor Rajendar Kumar and that due to some reasons she married Yusuf Khan, She was 22 and he was 44 at the time.
