Sanjay Dutt is an Indian film actor, producer and politician, known for his work in Hindi cinema. Dutt, son of film actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt, made his acting debut in 1981. Although Dutt has enjoyed major success in movie genres ranging from romance to comedy, it has been the roles of gangsters, thugs and police officers in films representing the action genres that has won Dutt unprecedented adulation, with fans and critics referring to him as the "Deadly Dutt", for his larger-than-life portrayals of such characters. Dutt was born on 29 July 1959 to a Punjabi family of Bollywood megastars Sunil Dutt and Nargis and was educated at The Lawrence School, Sanawar near Chandigarh.
