Shahana had her early education at the Sardar Patel Vidyalya, Delhi and later she studied at the Sophia College in Mumbai. Her father Omkar Goswami is an economist. Shahana spent two years in America when he was a faculty member at Rutgers university. Her brother Srijit Goswami is doing his doctorate in Physics at Cambridge, UK.
