Bio

Shashi Ruia is the Chairman of Essar Group Ltd. He began his career in the Essar group in the year 1965. Under the leadership of his father, Essar group scaled new highs. Essar Group is indulged in various domains like shipping, marine, construction, power, telecom, offshore engineering & oil exploration. Essar had always made a strategic move ahead of the market. A god example was the opening of telecom sector for private companies. Essar partnered with Hutch which was ultimately acquired by the Vodafone. He is on board of several important national bodies. He was on the board of the Federation of Indian Chambers of commerce & Industry (FICCI). He has also served as the Chairman of the prestigious Indo-US Joint Business Council & former President of the Indian National Shipowners Association.
