About Simon Child


Simon Child (born April 16, 1988 in Auckland) is a field hockey player from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed The Black Sticks, in 2005 against Malaysia. At the age of sixteen he became the second youngest player to turn out for the New Zealand Men痴 Hockey Team while still a student at Kings College in Auckland. He won the Counties Manukau Junior Sportsman of the Year in 2005.[citation needed] He played in the 2006 Mens Hockey World Cup in MBAD+F66Echengladbach, Germany. Child went to Alfriston School in Manurewa, Auckland.
